FAQs

How do I care for my gold?

Our gold filled materials are crafted with a thick layer of 14k gold that is heat- and pressure-bonded to a core metal. Gold filled jewelry has exceptional quality and lifespan and is far more durable than gold plating or vermeil. With proper care it will retain its shine and beauty for many years.

Gold filled jewelry doesn’t tarnish easily, but it can lose its luster if exposed to chemicals, abrasive surfaces, or excessive moisture. To keep it gleaming, we recommend treating it gently and cleaning it regularly.

After wearing, gently wipe your jewelry with a soft, dry cloth to remove oils, sweat or residue. Every now and then, you can rinse your piece in warm water with a mild, phosphate-free soap. Be sure to dry it completely with a lint-free cloth before storing.

Store your gold filled pieces in a soft pouch or separate compartment to avoid scratching. Though water exposure is safe in moderation, we recommend removing your jewelry before swimming, bathing, or applying lotions and perfumes to extend its life.

Avoid harsh cleaners, chemical dips, or polishing cloths intended for sterling silver, as these can strip the surface or dull the finish of gold filled jewelry.

How do I care for my silver?

At ANA GADA we use only high quality sterling (92.5%) and fine (99.9%) silver in our silver jewelry. Silver will tarnish with time, but a little extra care in the storage, use and cleaning of your silver jewelry will keep it in mint condition.

The biggest culprit in silver tarnishing is humidity, and silver jewelry will tarnish more quickly in humid environments. Storing your silver in a small plastic bag will protect it from humidity and slow the tarnishing process.

We recommend rinsing your silver in warm water with a gentle phosphate-free soap after use or at the first signs of tarnish. Thoroughly dry your jewelry with a lint-free cloth or special silver polishing cloth before putting it away.

Commercially available silver dips can be used to clean your silver, however these will erode a thin layer of your silver and should be used infrequently.

Salt, sulphur and acid is harmful to your silver, as is rubber and stainless steel , so avoid letting your jewelry come into contact with these.

How do I care for my pearls?

Pearls are elegant but fragile creations of nature and should be handled with care to ensure they retain their lustre.

Ensure your pearls are not stored next to other jewellery as they are easily scratched and dulled by gemstones and metals.

Avoid getting body lotions or perfumes on your pearls, as these will dull the natural glow of your pearls. You should always remove your pearls before swimming or showering.

Wiping your pearls with a soft, lint-free cloth when you take them off will remove any body oils or residue, and keep your pearls looking beautiful.

Dirty pearls can be cleaned with a small amount of mild soap and water solution, but never soak your pearls, and never use harsh detergents or solutions containing ammonia. Avoid abrasive polishing cloths.

If your pearls include silver in need of polishing, professional cleaning is recommended.

How do I care for my gemstones?

At ANA GADA we use natural gemstones selected for their unique beauty and character. These stones vary in hardness and durability, but all require gentle care to keep them looking their best.

Even harder stones can chip or break if dropped, and softer stones may scratch or lose polish if not handled properly. We recommend storing your gemstone pieces separately in a soft pouch or lined box to prevent scratches or knocks from other jewelry.

Avoid exposing your gemstones to harsh chemicals or ultrasonic cleaners, as these can damage both the stone and its setting.

Wipe your gemstone jewelry with a soft, damp cloth after wear to remove any residue or oils. A mild soap and water solution can be used for occasional cleaning—just be sure to rinse thoroughly and dry completely with a lint-free cloth. Never soak porous stones.

To help preserve the brilliance of your stones, remove gemstone jewelry before swimming, bathing, or applying products like perfumes or lotions.
